What Our Clients Say on Tripadvisor
Fantastic day in the wine region - On our first ever trip to SA, we couldn't decide on a stay in the wine region or take a day trip from our base in Cape Town. We opted... read more for the latter and what a brilliant day it was. I want to say that our driver/guide/comedian was Labushagne but a million apologies if I have this wrong!
There was a slight mix-up with the pickup but very quickly resolved and off we went to explore 4 different vineyards. The first was sparkling/white wine with some biltong and a walk round the vineyard and explanations of the processes involved. Then off to a wine/cheese pairing in a gorgeous house in a beautiful spot, then for lunch (braii) with wine and finally (my favourite) to a small boutique vineyard for chocolate and red/dessert wine pairing. The owner here took time to show us round the cellar and give an insight into his philosophy on making fantastic wine.
Everyone we met was incredibly friendly and we felt really looked after. Naturally the wines were all brilliant and the day was made by Labuschagne (?) with his knowledge, commentary and overall lovely personality.
We were dropped off at the V&A Waterfront for a relaxed walk back to the hotel after a great day.
I would clearly recommend this to anyone.

A great tour - and help when we needed it. - Mark was our guide through Stellenbosch and he made it a fantastic tour. We hit a lot of rain - he rearranged our itinerary so we’d stay fairly dry... read more and were able to have lunch at a reasonable time. He helped me replace a cable that I’d accidentally left behind in North America and needed a South African debit card to purchase. He kept us entertained when our bus failed to proceed for an hour in Cape Town.
And when he wasn’t handling problems, he was a great guide and host, telling us about the areas and wineries we visited and making suggestions so we could get the most from our time.
I really enjoyed the time we spent with Mark - I’d happily take another Wine Flies tour!
